A picture of the Hawaii State Capitol Building brings to mind what a fascinating building it is. The design presents symbolic representation of the state, itself. The columns are flared at the top, representing palm trees. A wall in the atrium is shaped like one side of Diamond Head. A moat around the building represents an island in the middle of the ocean. Tadashi Sato's mural on the floor of the atrium is done in shades of blue and green, representing the sea and the sky. The legislative chambers and the opening atop the atrium are shaped to represent volcanos. It was designed by a partnership between the architectural firms of Belt, Lemon and Lo and John Carl Warnecke and Associates. Fascinating! Truly beautiful! Entirely Hawaiian!
