"Six Honest Serving Men" by Rudyard Kipling

Writer: H50 1.0 FOREVERH50 1.0 FOREVER

Steve McGarrett, in the original Hawaii Five-0, recited poetry from time to time. In the Season 2 episode "Leopard on the Rock," he recited Mr. Kipling's poem from his Just So Stories.

I keep six honest serving men,

they taught me all I knew.

Their names are What and Why and When

and How and Where and Who.

Mr. Kipling’s six honest serving men have served writers, reporters, investigators, and even businessmen.

* Writers want to make sure their material is fully understood by the reader.

* Reporters want to make sure their report gives all the pertinent facts.

* Investigators want to make sure they’ve left no stone unturned.

* Businessmen want to uncover organizational problems and find ways to correct them.

Many thanks to Steve's Girl for her assistance on this post.
