This glass mural, "Aquarius" by Tadashi Sato, is seen on the floor of the courtyard of the State Capitol Building. The capitol is filled with wonderful symbolism of the Hawaiian Islands. The courtyard is open front and back to represent mauka and makai, toward the mountains and toward the sea. The slanted wall on the far side of the picture represents Diamond Head, while the flared roofline represents the mouth of a volcano. Even the columns that surround the building are flared at the top to represent palm trees.
