Remember the Reason for the Season

Indeed, this is the season to be grateful. Christians are celebrating the time Our Dear Heavenly Father came to earth in human form (as Jesus) in order to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), thereby giving us peace (as the Prince of Peace) and to die for our sins in order that we might enjoy a loving relationship with Our Dear Heavenly Father (Romans 4:25, among many verses). For that, we can be most grateful.

It is not easy to understand everything about the Holy Trinity (God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit). Indeed, we are told that we will not receive the answers to our many questions until we are in Heaven. Our thoughts are not the same as His thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9), so it stands to reason that we are incapable of understanding many of His concepts. We take it on faith that we will learn the answers to our questions and that everything will be just as He has promised us (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Similarly, it is not easy to understand why bad things happen to good people. Books have been written, trying to provide answers to that question. In reality, we can only accept that, even when everything seems to be going wrong, Our Dear Heavenly Father is with us, helping us make our way through those dark valleys (Joshua 1:9). That verse has helped me many times, for it tells me that Our Dear Heavenly Father is with us at all times:

Have I not commanded you?

Be strong and of good courage.

Do not be terrified or be discouraged,

For the Lord, Your God, is with you wherever you go.

Thanks be to God, O Christ. Now, let's celebrate His birthday. Merry Christmas!
