Makaha Beach extends along a section of the Farrington Highway on the leeward side of O'ahu. In certain seasons, it is a popular surfing spot.
In 1969, real estate developer Chinn Ho built a resort in Makaha, hoping to attract tourism away from Waikiki. You will remember that, in the early 1960s, he built the Ilikai Hotel.
The Makaha Resort and Golf Club comprised a hotel, restaurant, common areas, and a golf club and course. Sadly, the resort closed in 2014 after twice changing hands for lack of business due to the distance from Makaha to the tourist attractions and was torn down in 2018. The golf club remains open, although the golf course is closed for renovations.
We saw the Makaha Resort in "Kiss the Queen Goodbye" (Season 2).
The Makaha Resort is also featured in the season 3 episode "Beautiful Screamer."
