Jack was considered in the 1960s for the leading role in the British television program, Man in a Suitcase. Yes! He would have portrayed McGill, a former US intelligence agent, who worked as a traveling private detective.
The program aired in England between September 1967 and April 1968. Oops! If Jack had received this role, he would not have been free to accept the role of Steve McGarrett. After all, the pilot of Hawaii Five-0 was filmed in December 1967, introduced to the public in early 1968, and began its 12-year run in September 1968.
Isn’t it nice to know that life had something better waiting in the wings for Jack.
Many thanks to Mike Quigley for passing along this tidbit of information.
